Description
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
To support the inventory planning team in optimizing inventory investment through timely and prioritized receipt of ordered product.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Expedites all late purchase orders from the open order report. Contacts vendors to obtain shipping information and updates all purchase order due dates as necessary.
- Expedites all back ordered items/purchase orders from the back order report. Contacts vendors to obtain shipping information and updates all item/purchase order due dates in order to achieve established goals
- Alerts the appropriate personnel of all item/vendor issues so that ordering and inventory management systems can be adjusted for accurate order placement.
- Coordinates with the Transportation department to identify foreign vendor purchase orders that will be past due, related to late or no bookings. Contacts vendors to expedite.
- Manages and processes all expeditor inquiries from distribution centers, and updates POs as needed.
- Works with the Transportation department to identify priority shipments and have them noted at the distribution center level for expedited receiving.
- Keeps vendor data base updated as vendors make changes to where purchase orders are sent, location of warehouses or contacts change.
- Receives the company’s top twenty back order list and reports the findings to the appropriate personnel.
- Keeps supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems and related information. Coordinates and communicates plans and activities with others, as appropriate to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.
- Performs related work as apparent or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate or equivalent degree,
- At least 5 years of professional office experience in inventory or a related area.
- Demonstrated administrative and clerical skills, including personal computer experience.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office
- Ability to work accurately with numbers and analyze data.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong team player is required.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and communication skills are a must.
